My mom and brother joined us for Thanksgiving this year! We missed Dad and Dean and Scott’s family, but it sure was nice to have some family around! And we had so much fun, as we always do when we are together. We hiked up to Rattlesnake Lodge, watched lots of Downton Abbey, went for a walk at the Biltmore, laughed, cooked, ate, and had a great time!
It was a wonderful holiday! So glad to have a few days off with family! Scott and I both worked Friday and Saturday, so Mom and Parker headed home. Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. It was crazy! I am so thankful for my life, my loved ones, and the opportunities I have.
Yesterday my brother turned 20!!! He is such a great guy and I am so proud of him!
There is a new window in the break room at one of my jobs.
This is the view.
Oh. My. Wow.
I live here! I love it. It is beautiful and I often forget that. Such a sweet reminder to look around and take in the beauty that surrounds us.
This week has been utterly exhausting, and it was even a short week at school! But it has been so good! I left Montessori this evening loving my job and I just got back from my most favorite yoga class. Constantly learning, always surprised, and happy to be living this life.
And next week is Thanksgiving!!! We have a turkey and we’re going shopping for the rest of the food stuffs tomorrow! I am so excited to have family coming to visit for Thanksgiving this year! This coming week is going to be a doozy. Only two days at school, then two days with family, then working Black Friday and Saturday downtown!
Friday, November 25, 2011: In the world of retail today is utter chaos! But work for me wasn’t too bad. I’m happy to be bustling around helping customers, people-watching, listening to Christmas music, chatting with folks about their holiday, and watching the minute hand zoom around the clock. But the very best part of today was coming home. Scott and I decided that since we had paella with my family for our Thanksgiving meal that we should cook up the traditional feast today. And since I had to work all day it was entirely up to Scott! I got a four pound chicken at the farmers’ market last weekend and he roasted that, along with making stuffing, mashed potatoes, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, and broccoli, with cranberry sauce. Let me tell you, walking in the door after a day of work to the aroma of everything cooking was marvelous! And the meal was scrumptious. Scott is such an excellent cook! Thanks for such an amazing feast you!
Thursday, November 24, 2011: First of all, I give thanks for my family. I give thanks for my brother on this, his 19th birthday. I give thanks for my wonderful, loving boyfriend. I give thanks for my marvelous mother. I give thanks for my caring father. I give thanks for my generous Dean. I give thanks for my extended family – my grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins; and boyfriends parents, brothers, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins. I give thanks for all of the irreplaceable people in my life that make me so happy. So much to be grateful for!
Wednesday, November 23, 2011: In which Scott plays with uses a chainsaw. We started off today by lounging around for a bit with Dad while Dean was at a meeting. Then this afternoon Scott took down about two dozen trees on Dad and Dean’s property. He’s so handy!
Then this afternoon we went to Trader Joe’s for some much needed favorites and headed to Mom’s house. Now we’re lounging around again, drinking tea, after pie and pasta (in that order) waiting to go pick Parker up from the airport! It feels good to be back with family.
Tuesday, November 22, 2011: After a full day of work and classes, Scott and I packed up the car and headed east for Thanksgiving! The drive was dark, but smooth sailing! It feels good to be back with family for a little bit. It’s unseasonably warm in Chapel Hill, but it’s beautiful!
