Deck the Halls

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! We decorated our apartment this weekend! We put up our tiny two-foot Christmas tree and LOADED it with lights and ornaments. We listened to Christmas music and made Christmas cookies! It felt wonderful, but it’s taking its sweet time to actually feel like Christmas! It was almost 70 degrees today. Oy. But we are loving our wee Christmas tree!

S’mores Cookies!

I found this recipe for S’mores Cookies on Made by Mike’s blog and Scott and I decided to give them a whirl! They are so easy and so tasty! And when summer calls for s’mores and you don’t have a fire pit, this is the next best thing. Plus, no smoke involved! Added bonus.

You can find the recipe on Made by Mike’s blog! They are really tasty warm, straight out of the oven. Thanks for the recipe Mike!!!

Baked Goods

Thursday, February 16, 2012: We’ve acquired some tasty baked goods in the past couple of days. Yesterday we received a Valentine’s Day package from Gammy and Bobo with more dried pears (yum!) and decorated cookies! What a treat!!! Thank you, Gammy and Bobo!

And we picked up some red velvet whoopie pies at The Fresh Market too! It was a bit of a splurge, but it’s been a wicked long time since we’ve had them. Our thoughts: they’re okay. Not the best we’ve had, definitely not the worst, way too many ingredients to count, but pretty good for whoopie pies in the south! And for as labor intensive as they are to make at home, it was worth it to buy them for a quick treat.

the first few days

So I’ve been thinking a lot lately about blogs, and for a few days I was entirely fed-up with them. All of them. Especially this one. But as some time has gone by and as Twenty-Eleven has started, I’ve decided to take another stab at it and see what happens. I’ve also decided to rearrange my ideas a bit for this blog in particular: I don’t think I’ll post every single day. I might. Aaaand I might not. I think I might also post multiple photos for individual days, depending on what happened that day. This is going to be an ongoing project and I intend to rearrange the “rules” at my discretion. So here goes …

First off, the last day of 2010.
