Birthday Weekend!

I give you a recap of my birthday weekend. It was wonderful!

Friday, May 4, 2012: After a short day of work we met up with some friends at the Battery Park Book Exchange and Champagne Bar for drinks. What an awesome place!!! It’s the best possible cross between a library/bookstore and a bunch of sitting rooms where they serve a wide array of wines and other drinks and small bites. I had a blood orange mimosa. Yep, it was awesome.

Saturday, May 5, 2012: MY BIRTHDAY THIS YEAR WAS AMAZING! Scott made crepes for me for my birthday breakfast. They were delicious!

We had Cricket, our neighbor’s dog, overnight on Friday and we took her to the Biltmore for a walk after breakfast. It was so beautiful after a brief morning rain shower. The flowers were stunning and it felt so good to get outside for a walk.

After a small lunch we went downtown and walked around for a while. Since I work downtown it never really occurs to me to go back to wander around. But I forget how nice it is to browse through some of our favorite little shops! And it was an absolutely beautiful day! Once we had thoroughly visited our favorite spots, Scott took over and took me to dinner. He surprised me and took me to a place that we had never been to before – Blue Water Seafood Company. I didn’t even know it existed and I was so excited to see where he was going to take me! We love seafood and to find a place that has decent-seafood-in-the-mountains was very exciting! Dinner was fabulous!!!

Scott had a great idea after we got home from dinner to go for a drive up on the Blue Ridge Parkway to see the Supermoon! So we changed clothes and grabbed some layers and headed north. Originally our plan was to go to Craggy Gardens, but once we got up there we realized that a cloud was settling itself right over the ridge. So we headed back south a little ways and stopped at an overlook to watch the moon rise. It was cloudy, but we could still see some of the moon! It was such an excellent way to finish up my birthday! We even ran into some friends up there!

What a positively marvelous birthday! Cheers to another fabulous year of adventures! Thanks to all my family and friends for helping me celebrate, even from far away!
